For an ace persons ace character perspective on sex, I like to think of it sort of like cravings. Like say you’re a person who doesn’t like Mexican food normally. Normally it disgusts you. There’s too much cheese. There’s too much grease but some days you really like the cheese and you really like all that saltiness and the spice. So normally you’re not one for something very traditional even when you do have cravings you’ll just get some thing from a specific place you know you can trust to make it the way you like (a stand in for a trusted intimate partner) or make it your way cause you only like it one way (stand in for self pleasuring) but some people need the atmosphere the tradition all that stuff to make eating Mexican food worth it,  this would be a stand-in for a sex favorable ace that enjoys sleeping with strangers people.  Plain Mexican food will never do it. They need something extra. I.e. kink aspects.

 The big thing about being ace is that it’s not the human body that turns someone on it’s other aspects. Body parts can be a turnoff for some ace people the same way as a straight man seeing another man naked can be, but some ace people can at least feel normal enough around genitalia that it doesn’t bother them that way and so they’re able to enjoy sexual intercourse regardless, so long as they’re in the mood for it and when I mean in the mood think about the cravings idea again. Some can still get aroused through kink as well as that’s not usually a visual medium, but focuses on sensation and sound and other senses it’s complicated and different for every person and some are totally sex repulsed and some only realize they are ace because someone points out that sexual attraction means being attracted to bodies and physical form not about libido i.e. the cravings. Both are ok, as is everything in between.

I think the biggest thing about writing an ace character would be a focus on the character not seeing what the big deal is for certain heterosexual issues and that’s part white gambit gets head cannon as ace particularly recently. He does not care that he can’t physically touch, rogue he cares that he can love her regardless. For a lot of men who are not ace, this would be a dealbreaker, even if they truly love the woman because their sexual attraction would create a form of longing that makes them feel like they need to interact with them in such a way and us there would be a lot of emotional pain and turmoil there. ace people can still have physical needs, but it’s not going to be activated just by looking at someone outside of maybe a desire to hug them or kiss them.

(X-men '97 spoilers)

I have no idea why I suddenly became so enamored with Gambit, like seriously it came out of nowhere, sometime after my second rewatch of dpxw but before seeing him anywhere else

But today I was watching X-men '97 for the first time and I realized that Remy physically could not touch Rogue, couldn't hold her, couldn’t kiss her, couldn’t feel her skin in any way without gloves or clothes in between them, but he still loved her and wanted her. and if he hadn't died, he would have continued to choose her. "Some things be deeper than skin"

Something in me knew. Somewhere deep in my soul, before I even realized, my asexual ass was like that one. We like that one.

I viscerally need Rogue and Gambit to be the endgame, and if they aren't, it will crush me and do irredeemable damage to my mental health.

First and foremost because Rogueneto is not a thing in my head, since Cherik exists

But also, and more importantly, because Rogue and Gambit are inspiring together to me. They were the proof that physical touches isn't everything in a relationship (still are in some part of the episodes). This is so important to me, as an asexual folk. Like.... They mean the world to each other. Rogue is Remy's Queen of Heart and he is her Swamp Rat, they were there for each other when it matter, every single time through the og X-Men serie, and they bloody need to stay that way. Because at the end of the world they were the first they needed to check on. Because Rogue will always save Gambit first and he will always save her first.

And I know that Rogue's struggle with the fact that she can not touch anybody is a big part of her character development, and that she has every right to feel frustrated towards that, but I need them to endgame.

Because I need the reassurance that sex is not all that matter in a relationship (since they still hugs, comfort each other, love each other without it) and I need the reassurance as an ace person that not any potential lover would go around behind my back because of the lack of sex in a relationship.

Because my heart breaks everytime I see Gambit imagining Rogue and Magneto together, because I felt that in real life; because my sanity needs it, please let Rogueneto dies in a car crash and give me Rogue and Gambit together. ( I mean this. Someone crush rogueneto to the ground -without hurting any of them-)

if you think about it he wants the one girl, the one girl, who can not touch anyone. She always says that he needs someone he can touch, that can touch him, but he keeps going after her. He doesn’t choose someone else, he wants Rouge. He knows he’ll never be able to touch her, but he doesn’t care he loves her.

I don’t know how well this holds up for Gambit in the new D&W movie as I can’t go see it, but I have finished the old x men animated series from the 90’s and have begun watching 97, and I can’t get it out of my head.

every time I see him use a card and I see an ace of spades on it I get a little too excited and happy just cause I feel like that wasn’t an accident like the writers, animators, whoever knew they knew.

We don't really have a naming convention for them other than Alaskan/Homeless so I'm thinking Rogue's team can be the straight team and Cyclops' is the queer one.

Juggernaut - Gay AF. Has been an unstoppable bottom and true love of Black Tom Cassidy since the 60s.

Magik - Pan, even through Marvel's cowardly behaviour.

Beast - Bi, but really not interested in sex or romance rn. OTP Wonder Man - the other half of comics' first M/M kiss. Clones are queer, it is known.

Magneto - is Magneto.

Thot Summers - Definitely a wife guy, but it's not his fault Brevoort broke up the lunar polycule. Says acab and is a twink again.

Sex favorable Ace Gambit time

-gambit getting into sex because of expectations of young men in the 80s. You were weird if you were a virgin. Something was wrong with you. Maybe you were gay. He knew he was bi at least so he creates the playboy persona and has sex at first to keep prying eyes off of him.

-finds he likes the sensation, likes the feeling of making someone else scream in pleasure. Gives him a sense of pride. Becoming a flirt makes him feel more confident. Being able to charm a room of men and women equally and show them a good time whether by talking or in bed? Makes him feel on top of the world.

-also he gets off by auditory stimulation and hearing the person he's sleeping with having a good time is the way he most enjoys getting that. Playboy magazines are useless garbage to him he doesn't understand the appeal.

-never got the things people were saying about legs vs boobs vs butts. About how a woman's face looks, how buff a man is. More abstract concepts appealed to him, like a girls ability to stand up to the biggest man in the room, the feeling between his fingers of how soft a man's hair was, the sound of a person's voice when they yawned and how he could just picture what it would sound like moaning his name, how their hand felt around his and how he could imagine it gripping him tightly as he cuddled them in bed.

-gambit assuming he's just bisexual for years because while he's bi romantic neither female nor male form really did anything for him so 0+0=0 logic aces have

-most of his past encounters were one night stands when he was feeling horny.

-flirts more cause he likes making people blush and getting a rise rather than wanting to slip away with them

-long term relationships were a rarity because expecting to be able to put out regularly even when he wasn't feeling sex favorable scared him a bit. He feared disappointing a potential partner. He could romance all day. But the thought of a partner taking a sex repulsion day as him thinking they were ugly or losing interest in them, or God forbid, him having a span of days where he couldn't even think about sex for whatever reason and them assuming he's cheating cause of his playboy persona he carefully crafted....terrifying. Keeping things fast and loose and not making attachments was always safer.

-found out rogue couldn't be touched and his heart lept for joy because it meant she was 100% safe. She was never gonna ask him to perform when he was feeling sex repulsed and he could flirt with her without fear of escalation with expectations. He could take things as slow as he wanted with her. She of all people could understand the concept of boundaries.

-as he gets to know her more and her need and craving for touch he realizes he wants so badly to make her feel good. Desperate even to find a way to do that. But he doesn't need to push himself on her. He of all people understands when someone's not ready. Still he hopes one day he can be that one to take care of her.

-cant understand how someone can just want to use someone without their consent. Maybe it was just his bisexuality? But for all his desire to pleasure people he's never looked at someone and wanted so badly to see them in extasy to push them into it or worse...

-only finds out about asexuality during the mid 2000s. The whole thing hits him like a truck. Things making so much sense. Why so many love songs never made sense, why others idea of love and sexuality weren't his style, why rogue was so confused on how he kept insisting he didn't mind they couldn't touch.

-his experience wasn't the norm but he wasn't broken. It's just...like his mutant powers in a way. Just different.

-doesn't know how to tell rogue. Doesn't even know if she will believe him. Maybe he will some day. He may have to write a whole essay first to fully explain it....oof that is not his style. This may take some time.

-Rogue tells him one day that he's not like any other man she's ever met, and loves him for it. He smiles a little. He's glad he's different.

Gambit is on the ace spectrum. More specifically demisexual or gray-asexual. he although may be very flirty, but like It doesn’t mean he wants sex. Anyway these are my thoughts and i wanted to show them.
